********************************************************************* The Department will be selecting the Law Officer of the Year. Take a look at those individuals who have protected your community during the period of January 1-December 31, 2009. Surely one of them is worthy of a consideration. Nominees for the Law Officer Award must be a living, active, full-time law officer affiliated with a law enforcement agency located in North Dakota. Posthumous award nominations are allowed ONLY if the nominee's death occurred within the period of the award. Law Enforcement Officer of The Year (.pdf) ********************************************************************* Baseball Hall of Fame Award Any American Legion post within the Department of North Dakota may nominate one or more candidates for the Hall of Fame. Nominations will remain under consideration for two years, after which they will be returned to the nominating post. However, they may be resubmitted at any time. Completed forms must be submitted to Department Headquarters, PO Box 5057, West Fargo, ND 58078 not later that February 1st. Baseball Hall of Fame Award (.pdf) ********************************************************************* Fire Fighter of the Year Award The Department will be selecting the Fire Fighter of the Year Award. Take a look at those individuals that have protected your community during the period of January 1-December 31, 2008, surely one of them is worthy of consideration. Nominees for the Fire Fighter award must be a living, active, full-time or volunteer fire fighter affiliated with a Fire Department located in North Dakota. Fire Fighter of The Year (.pdf) ********************************************************************** Legionnaire of the Year Award For the Legionnaire of the Year Award the nominee must be selected by a majority of the members at a regular post meeting before being nominated for the Department award. The selection should be based on service to the American Legion (75%) and service to community, state and nation (25%). The period of service should be January 1-December 31, 2009. North Dakota American Legion For the Press Association Award the nominee must be a resident of the state of North Dakota. A posthumous award is allowable only if the nominee's death occurred within the dates in which the award is being presented. Membership in The American Legion shall not be a requirement or consideration in qualifying any nominee for this award. No previous winner may be certified for consideration of this award.
